Ryan McCue Joins Human Made

Posted on in News

I’m incredibly excited to welcome Ryan McCue to Human Made as a full-time Engineer. Ryan is already well known within the community for his contributions to WordPress Core as well as his other open source projects. Having followed his impressive open source work for several years and then finally getting to meet him in person at last years WordPress Community Summit I was confident he’d be a great fit at HM. When Ryan announced that he was available to hire I immediately reached out to him to talk about joining us, I’m so happy he agreed!

I’m really proud of the team and culture we are building at Human Made, working with the right people in the right way makes work a pleasure and I know I speak for everyone when I say we can’t wait to work with Ryan. Welcome rmccue!

As Tom mentioned, I’ve been a part of the WordPress community for about seven years now, and I’ve been contributing for just as long. As part of my contributions, I’m responsible for making sure your RSS widgets work with the SimplePie library, as well as working on the ambitious WP API project to help advance WordPress as an application platform.

For the past few years, I’ve been working on WordPress in my free time, along with occasional freelance client work, while studying in the meantime. Recently, I decided it was time to change and try something different. Working at Human Made marks my first venture into working full-time on WordPress, and I’m excited to finally be able to work on my passion as a career.

While I’m a backend developer at heart, there’s nothing I enjoy more than creating fantastic end-user experiences, and the tools to create those experiences. I see huge opportunities in the future for WordPress as both a CMS and a application platform, and I hope to continue to help explore those opportunities, both in my work with Human Made and by continuing my open source contributions.

I can’t wait to get started working with the Human Made team, helping to create awesome experiences for users, and becoming a better developer at the same time. Thanks to the Human Made team for the huge opportunity!
